Quartermaster Clutch Kit, V-Drive, Triple Disc, 7-1/4 in Diameter, for LS1 Motors. This is the replacement clutch, for the Lingenfelter motors, as supplied to the AC Delco ASA Racing Series.
Quarter Master Optimum-V, V-Drive and Pro-Series clutches are engineered for performance, reliability and low moment of inertia (MOI). Optimum-V units have stiffer covers and an extremely high torque capacity; V-Drive clutches are open for cleaner and cooler operation; and the Pro-Series offers reliable performance and durability. Note: Clutches listed are for pre-1986 small block Chevy unless noted
Beginning with the 2000 racing season, the American Speed Association adapted the LS1 as their "spec" engine, replacing previous V-6 engines after building costs skyrocketed. ASA founder Rex Robbins worked with GM Raceshop to develop an engine program that would not only help the show, but increase competition and cut out dependence on the performance aftermarket. Referred to as the Vortec ASA 5700, the engines are modified versions of their stock counterparts. The engines were shipped directly from GM, and outfilled with a bigger camshaft, stiffer valve springs and lightweight retainers. Lingenfelter Engineering, which worked as a technical partner with the ASA and GM, to make several other modifications to the powerplants, including converting them to dry sump oiling. Lingenfelter also maintained the engines, while the series was still active. The old ASA cars make great track day, or GT2/GTA race cars. Parts are easily found, and not overly expensive. This part number is not typically listed in catalogs.
